25 Ways to Cure Quarantine Boredom!

It’s finally May….and we’re STILL in quarantine. Can you believe we’ve been at it for 50+ days now? Hopefully you’ve already completed all your tasks on your to-do list, but if you find yourself bored or need new ideas for entertainment, here’s a list we’ve compiled to help you out!

1

Reconnect with people that you haven’t talked to in a while. This could be family or old friends. Call and check up on them. Everyone is home so there isn’t a better time for this!

2

Deep clean your room, house, cabinets. Go through all the spots in your home and tidy up! If you need inspiration, I recommend watching Tidying Up with Marie Kondo on Netflix. Having a clean, organized environment can help lift up your spirits!

3

Rearrange your furniture. Now that you’ve cleaned, you might want to spice things up a bit and change the space around you. Learn how to feng shui your home to bring a new energy and life into it!

4

Try a new recipe. You now have time to cook and make elaborate recipes. If you’ve never baked before, now is a good time to try it! Miss drinks at restaurants? Make them at home! Try a new dessert!

5

Draw/Paint. Even if you’re not good at it. You can find good tutorials on Youtube. I love watching “Bob Ross” videos, they’re very soothing and easy to follow along.

6

Read anything. It can be books, newspapers, online articles, the captions to your Netflix show. Keep your brain active.

7

Exercise. It’s important to keep your brain active, but also your body! Especially during a time when we’re not as active as we normally are. There are hundreds of Youtube workouts that do not require any equipment. Also, don’t forget to check Instagram, Pinterest, or other platforms for exercise ideas.

8

Meditate. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s never a bad idea to take 5 minutes for yourself to relax. There are apps available that can guide you in meditation if you’re new to this. Some people also like to do yoga while meditating.

9

Origami. Have some paper lying around the house? Turn it into art! You can also learn how to fold towels or napkins like they do at hotels.

10

Drink water. Never forget.

 11

Watch your favorite artist’s music videos on Youtube. Music is constantly changing and there’s a good chance your favorite artist’s style has morphed over the years. Take a trip back in time by revisiting their older work.

 12

Make a new playlist. Have a playlist for different moods. I have one to wake me up in the mornings, one to dance to, one for dinner, another for when I’m showering, one for when I do yoga, and many more.

 13

Unsubscribe from annoying emails. Always get the same annoying emails? You can stop them.

14

Card games. You can play classic games like Go Fish, Poker or Solitaire. Get the entire family involved!

15

Journal. If you’re feeling a little “off” during this time, THAT’S OKAY. Quarantine is a new experience for all of us and we are all reacting differently to it. Writing down our feelings or thoughts can help us process our emotions and help us feel better.

16

Take a Buzzfeed quiz. Or any other online quiz. Find out what kind of taco you are. You can also compare your answers to your friends and family. It’s a good topic of conversation.

17

Discover your astrology chart. All you need is the time, date, and location of where you were born. You can find out your star, sun, moon, Mars, and Venus sign. Read it and see how accurate it is. If astrology isn’t your thing, this can still be a fun topic of conversation.

18

Sing even if you’re not good at it. Pretend you’re Christina Aguilera and let it all out!

19

Dance. Put on some upbeat music and dance! You don’t need anyone. All you need is an open space. No one will judge you for dancing right now. Plus, it works as great cardio!

20

Create your own choreography. You can find so many dances online! If you haven’t tried TikTok, now’s the time. For all the parents, you are NOT too old for it.

21

Try a puzzle. It doesn’t have to be a physical one, it can be a different type of puzzle. Sudoku is a puzzle. Any mind game works really.

22

Listen to a podcast. Are you tired of the news? Or of watching the same things on TV? Change it up and listen to a podcast. Podcasts are great because you can listen to them while you’re doing anything!

23

Reminisce with old photo albums. Go through your family’s photo album. It can lead to a good laugh!

24

Dress up. You can dress fancy or wear a costume. You can organize with your family to have a theme to it as well. For example, everyone dresses up as their favorite superhero for dinner.

25

Have a spa day at home. Try a face mask, give yourself a manicure/pedicure. We’re not going anywhere anytime soon, so self-care is very important.

Hopefully this list helps alleviate your boredom! We’re definitely trying some of these ideas at home.

Stay safe everyone!
